Warming up to a healthy future

Our client - The regions’ top independent boiler specialist company, the Gas Trade Centre (GTC), is really fired up for a healthy future with the recent appointment of a new apprentice.

Graduating from Northumbria University in Sports and Exercise Management, Paul Mizen, 26 from South Shields, chooses a career in gas engineering over the fitness and wellbeing industry.

Paul joins the South Shields based company at a very exciting time in its expansion phase. July this year, the GTC scooped the prestigious South Tyneside Enterprise Partnership (STEP) Award for Excellence in Customer Service as well as receiving a visit from the South Shields’ MP David Milliband.

Established in 1972, South Shields based GTC provides high quality repair, maintenance and installation services to housing associations, national insurance companies and individual home owners. They have been working with Homeserve, a national home and emergency provider, for over 10 years, contracted to deliver its services across the North of England, the Borders and North Yorkshire.

As well as the appointment of Paul last month, the GTC also welcomed two other apprentices, who are recent school leavers, Scott Sanderson from South Shields and James Brown from Jarrow. The appointment of these new apprentices is part of the company’s expansion plans to increase its capacity across the Northern region.

Paul Mizen said: “I am very excited to be starting a career with the Gas Trade Centre. I wanted to pursue a career path that gave me security and future prospects and this opportunity gives me exactly this. I’m over the moon about what the future holds for me here.”

Stuart Crooks, Managing Director at the Gas Trade Centre, said: “I’m pleased to welcome the new apprentices on board. It’s a very exciting time for the company. Despite the recession, we are doing well and pushing ahead with our expansion plans. We are set for continued success and growing the team is crucial to our future plans.”
